Our Story

Made to bring things together.

Kattu (கட்டு) is a Tamil word meaning to tie, to bundle, to bring together. It felt like the perfect name for pieces made to carry the things that move through everyday life—and for a brand rooted in connection.

Kattu & Co. was created from a love of beautiful textiles, thoughtful details, and pieces that feel special while still being made to be used. Our bags are made in India using traditional block-printed fabrics, celebrating the character and craftsmanship that make handmade pieces beautifully imperfect and one of a kind.

A love of making and giving.

Long before Kattu & Co., I loved quilting, sewing my own bags, choosing fabrics, and dreaming up what I could make with them. I’ve spent many conversations with family and friends talking about fabrics and quilting, and one of my favorite parts of designing or making something has always been giving it away. There’s just something special about creating something and then gifting it to someone you love.

Kattu & Co. grew from that same love of fabric, bags, and thoughtful details. It gave me a way to take something I’ve loved making and put my own ideas into pieces that can be shared beyond my own sewing room—whether you’re choosing one for yourself or gifting one to someone you love.

A connection close to home.

With Sri Lankan heritage woven into our own family, giving back in Sri Lanka holds a special meaning for us. My husband is half Sri Lankan, and our children share that heritage through their grandfather. As Kattu grew, I knew I wanted this little business to connect beautiful things with something bigger.

With my own background in education, supporting children and families felt especially close to my heart. A portion of Kattu & Co. proceeds will support Their Future Today, an organization working to strengthen families and improve the lives of children throughout Sri Lanka. Through this partnership, this little business can give back to a place that is an important part of our family's story.
